My Metacognition:This sample of my work shows the many types of fun games to play. This was my least favorite assignment. It was very boring, and everyone knows how easily i get bored. This didn't interest me at all, and I really didn't put much effort into this piece. The steps I took to produce this work were planning, drafting, and revising. I needed to layout the paragraphs and how I would organize the types of games. i found some more examples of each sort or type of game, such as the standard or card games. my first draft was too short, and didn't show much about the many different types of games there are. After i revised it, it was more appealing than it was before. I think this piece illustrates my ability to do the following things especially well: My ability to summarize, organize, and entertain. I organized this by the genre of the game. The first paragraph is the introduction, and the last is the overall conclusion, which restates the main point of the piece. If I had more time to work on this project i would have added more examples and details to improve this piece. I would have tried to make it at least a little more fun and entertaining to read. I'm pretty sure the reader probably read the first two sentences and stopped reading. I could probably use a little more help in getting the reader's attention. I read it myself and groaned. i was already bored by the first sentence. |
Crazy About Games: There are many different types and styles of games. There are standard, word, puzzle, skill, strategy, card games, etc. Games are great for family gatherings, especially on holidays. Holidays wouldn't be holidays without fun family games.
There are standard games such as Monopoly, Parcheesi, checkers, and chess. These are the classic board games that usually take a while to finish. My personal favorite standard game is "Life", where you live out a fantasy life. There are also word games. Word games usually have to do with grammar, spelling, crossword, puzzles, riddles, guess-the-password, even games that use proverbs and old-sayings. Some are timed such as Boggle and Cranium. Most word games require hard thinking, and strategizing. Then there are the card games. There's Solitaire, an one player game. "Solitaire" is from the word "solitude," which means being alone. There is a variation called "Double Solitaire." Everyone plays simultaneously, and you can play your cards on anyone else's cards. Two or three people may try to play on the same card so, speed is important. The game is over when no one has any moves left. Whoever put the most cards out wins. These are only some of millions of fun games. Games provide family quality time, entertainment, bonding, sportsmanship, teamwork, and so much more. Family game nights bring the family closer and form a bond. It brings laughter, joy, and pure fun. Games sometimes bring out a side of someone you've never seen before. The little quiet girl may jump up and scream due to competitiveness. The nicest, sweetest girl may start screaming and trash talking. Maybe even the most obnoxious little boy may suddenly be quiet and think really hard. In conclusion, games provide many things, good and bad. The best thing is the family time it brings and the bonding it creates. If it's a quiet, boring night, try to have a family game night. You won't believe what may happen. Have fun! ~ |
