After Twenty Years Response To Literature

  "After Twenty Years" by O. Henry is about staying loyal no matter what.  Jimmy and Bob made a promise meet at Big Joe Brady's restaurant.  The story starts when a policeman notices a man leaning against a wall. It was Bob. He explained to the policeman that he wasn't 
causing any trouble and explained the promise. The policeman then left and 
wished him a good night. About half an hour later, a man came by and claimed 
that he was Jimmy.  Later on, Bob finally realized that this man was NOT Jimmy. 
Bob was a wanted criminal, and Jimmy just didn't have the heart to arrest his 
old friend. Jimmy was the policeman.

        I think there are several messages that the author was trying to communicate.  The 
first one was loyalty. Jimmy stayed loyal to Bob, even though Bob was a criminal 
wanted in Chicago. Many people who are NOT loyal, end up losing their friends. 
The second one is honesty or doing the right thing. Even though Bob was his 
friend, Jimmy did the right thing and turned him in. Another one I think he was 
trying to communicate was that people change overtime. In twenty years, Bob went 
from a regular guy into a criminal, while Jimmy became a policeman in New York.  
The last message was pay attention to who you're talking to. Bob didn't notice 
that the man wasn't really Jimmy, and told the man of all his 
crimes.

        This story reminds me of  the time my friend did something wrong, but instead of doing the right thing like Jimmy, I kept it to myself and lied for her.

The steps that I took to produce this work were planning, drafting, and of course, revising. I needed to find a connection, which took forever. I needed to organize the structure of my response. 

I think this piece illustrates my ability to do the following things especially well: Comprehend and understand the story.

If i had more time to work on this project I would have added a lot more details.

I could probably use a little more help in explaining furthermore in detail.
